My profile

Sarah Youde (aka monroegirl)
Plymouth, UK.

I love to scrap and I love to stitch. I also love reading, eating and the odd glass of red wine! I only wish I had more time to do all the things I love. Most of my time is taken up looking after a couple of other things I love and they are my two gorgeous children Ben and Charlotte. They ARE gorgeous, I am not biased, I have been blessed with beautiful children which is a good thing because I have such wonderful subjects for my scrapbooking addiction.

I am married to Mark and we will celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary in July - we are just as happy now as when we first met. He would rather I didn't spend any money on scrapbooking or cross stitch stash but if I didn't do that I would be perfect and surely that would be really boring! Anyway, this blog is a sort of diary / gallery and I enjoy updating my blog for myself and my family but any visitors are welcome :o)

Bye Bye Blogger

Well, I have been wanting to migrate to Typepad for some time because it seems to suit my needs better. I have finally sorted out my template and I am ready to go on the new blog so, if there is anyone out there that actually links to this one you need to update you linkage!

My typepad blog is HERE and that is where I shall be blogging from in the future.

You may recognise the first post on the new blog as I copied and pasted in from this one for a bit of continuity.

Sarah xx

Have You Seen This?

Well, a few weeks ago I was absolutely astounded when Tracie Hudson asked me to teach alongside her and Anna Bowkis at the Crop and Craft Christmas Workshop on 1st December. I am really excited about it as I am sure it is going to be amazing! I can assure you that you will not be disappointed with the classes or class kits they are going to be stunning. I attended last years Christmas workshop which Tracie ran and it was the first workshop I had ever attended and I was bowled over by it - I had such a great time doing the classes and we all had such a laugh. So pop over to the website to read all about it :) Get in quickly if you want a place as there are only limited spaces.

Too Absolutely Small

I have been wanting to do this Charlie and Lola inspired layout for ages, I am so pleased with how it has turned out! The journaling in the top left corner is EXACTLY how Charlotte talks so it is going to be a great memory and of course we all love Charlie and Lola in this house - isn't it the best!!

The window was made from card backed with acetate and mounted on 3d foam over the photo of the sky (with a couple of cardstock clouds for good measure). I made the curtain out of a fabric remnant and put eyelets across the top to make them go on the wire 'curtain pole'. I made a little beaded tie back. The book on the 'floor' is an actual mini book with some journaling inside.

I had a fab parcel in the post the other day from Anna, thank you Anna I love it (especially the little acrylic stamp!).

We all went up to Plymouth Hoe last night to watch the bonfire and fireworks display. It was really good, but I tend to get bored after about 20 minutes. The kids loved the fireworks but the one and a half hour wait for them to start didn't go down too well as you can see by this photo. Along with the rain, the wait and not being allowed to go on everything at the fair they were feeling hard done by! I wish I had the chance to watch such great fireworks and have a stick of candy floss after bed time when I was little. It was worth it in the end though.
