My profile

Sarah Youde (aka monroegirl)
Plymouth, UK.

I love to scrap and I love to stitch. I also love reading, eating and the odd glass of red wine! I only wish I had more time to do all the things I love. Most of my time is taken up looking after a couple of other things I love and they are my two gorgeous children Ben and Charlotte. They ARE gorgeous, I am not biased, I have been blessed with beautiful children which is a good thing because I have such wonderful subjects for my scrapbooking addiction.

I am married to Mark and we will celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary in July - we are just as happy now as when we first met. He would rather I didn't spend any money on scrapbooking or cross stitch stash but if I didn't do that I would be perfect and surely that would be really boring! Anyway, this blog is a sort of diary / gallery and I enjoy updating my blog for myself and my family but any visitors are welcome :o)

What a weekend!

Well it was the cyber crop of UK Scrappers this weekend so I had a lovely crafty weekend :) I didn't do as much as normally do on a cybercrop but I still did plenty and got a couple of nice layouts out of it!

The pre-crop challenge was to produce a layout with something hidden on it. I had a brilliant idea for it but I didn't really have the supplies to do it or the time as I feel it will be quite complicated to do. I am going to try and do that soon though so I am not going to tell you what the idea was. I produced this layout of my mum instead. The first half of the image is the layout and the second half shows the layout with the top photo open to reveal another photograph and some journalling :)

I also created this layout for a pre-crop challenge using a mystery kit. I had problems with this one and couldn't decide what to do but I think the layout turned out nice in the end :o)

During the weekend I did these layouts:

I did a couple of other things for challenges and also a lovely Lippy Chick book which I loved doing.

All in all it was a great cybercrop and now I can't wait to go to the Little Cottage Crafts crop next weekend :o)

She's a devil in disguise....Oh yes she is!

Cara commented on my last post that ATC's are addictive. Guess what I have been doing this evening!!! What do you think? I am just playing really but I think they will pass for ATC's, they are mine anyway.

I also did a lo with my first ever Scrapagogo monthly kit. If you don't get these kits then you should, it was so exciting receiving the kit in the post and I am dying to get next months which has the gorgeous Blonde Moments Festive Feast papers in it!

This lo looks fairly plain but it took me ages to get it right, it goes like that sometimes, the simpler ones take longer. The 'angel' letters took a long time as I painted the chipboard in white, then overlayed in blue and pink and then covered in lil davis glitter glaze. In real life they really sparkle. I have also glitter glazed the edges of the patterened paper. The title was inspired by Charlotte's behaviour this evening which was horrendous lol. She really is a devil in disguise!

iMac and ATC's

Hooray!!!!! I have finally ordered my iMac. I have been wanting to make the transition from PC to iMac for ages. I don't know why really, just that I love playing with graphics and photos and iMacs are renowned for their fab capabilities with graphics. I also love the look of the iMac and the fact that there is no tower with it. To say I am excited is an understatement :)

Also I did something today that I really thought I had no interest in and I thoroughly enjoyed and love the result. I made ATC's. I think I may make some more later.......

Cyber Crop Fever...

is gripping UKS and I love it. I am already dropping hints to my hubby that he should go to Plymouth for the weekend and take the kids with him so that I can be on my own ha ha!
It's not going to happen but you can try can't you? After all I am in the evil Slytherin team. I have to admit I have never read HP - not really my thing and have not seen the films properly, I think one was on in the background once. It doesn't matter, it is still great fun.
Got my new Karen Foster Carry All in pink and black today, I have been wanting one of these for ages to carry my papers to crops and also to take to crops when I don't need my big wheelie tote with me. Also got a couple of artbin photo cases, I love them.

Little Cottage Craft

I have sent off my payment for the Little Cottage Crafts christmas crop at the Rock Inn and I can't wait to go. I will be taught 6 classes by Kirsty Wiseman, Debbie Jewel and Alison Docherty. A whole weekend away just to myself - I am so excited!

We ordered some gorgeous new oak furniture for our lounge yesterday, it is going to look great but we are not having it delivered until we move back to Plymouth in January. We have rosewood furniture at the moment which is lovely but we have just got bored with it and want something a little more modern. I am a little concerned that the new stuff wont be the same quality as what we are getting rid of but it looks quite solid so it should be fine.

Charlotte and her Noodles

I made this lo last night which shows Charlotte with her favourite toy :) I have been wanting to scrap this for ages because she is just inseperable from this tatty little cat. The cat was a pressie from her Granny Spain (so called because that is where she lives) when Charlotte was one. It was a lovely soft and silky furry thing then that meowed when you pressed it's belly. Now it is a scraggy little thing that has been in the washing machine so many times that it has lost its meow altogether.

The kids are back at school now and Ben is staying for his lunch every day so he doesn't get picked up until 1pm. Charlotte is loving playgroup and on Monday she had her favourite day - the day when the music man comes and she can play the bongo drums lol.

Well I have got a mountain of ironing and washing to climb so I had better go and tackle it!
