My profile

Sarah Youde (aka monroegirl)
Plymouth, UK.

I love to scrap and I love to stitch. I also love reading, eating and the odd glass of red wine! I only wish I had more time to do all the things I love. Most of my time is taken up looking after a couple of other things I love and they are my two gorgeous children Ben and Charlotte. They ARE gorgeous, I am not biased, I have been blessed with beautiful children which is a good thing because I have such wonderful subjects for my scrapbooking addiction.

I am married to Mark and we will celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary in July - we are just as happy now as when we first met. He would rather I didn't spend any money on scrapbooking or cross stitch stash but if I didn't do that I would be perfect and surely that would be really boring! Anyway, this blog is a sort of diary / gallery and I enjoy updating my blog for myself and my family but any visitors are welcome :o)

Flambards and the Countess of Wessex

Yesterday the kids had a lovely day. The playgroup that they attend was invited to a 30th birthday party for Flambards. Not only did they have a party where there was party food and drink but there was a DJ playing nice kiddie songs for them. The organisers had even thought of showing cartoons on a big screen when the children were sitting down at the tables to keep their attention from wondering.

Half way through the party we all had to go outside and wave flags at the Countess of Wessex as she arrived to come and cut the cake. It was lovely for the children but a nightmare for us Mum's as they kept us there for AGES before she turned up and the kids were all getting very bored and very hot by the time she got there. After all that waiting she walked down the other side of the road to us and my kids weren't very happy after being told they were going to get to meet a princess!

Anyway she came into the hall afterwards and got all the kids to sing Happy Birthday to Flambards which was really nice of her and she cut the cake. I have to say the press are a pain! None of the kids could see her when she was doing all this because all the camera men just encircled her and it was a mass of black. I don't think the kids cared by this time anyway! They had ice lollys, balloons, flags and the rest of their dinner to keep them happy.

I forgot to take my camera!! I did have my mobile phone on me though which has a 2mp camera so I managed to get a few photos which I may be able to print to a certain quality.

Much Better!

I am feeling much better now thank goodness!

Mark was out plastering all day on Saturday so I actually did some scrapping. I spent most of the day on and off creating some layouts for my in-laws 40th Wedding Anniversary album. I have well and truly made a good start on it now so I am really pleased.

This was my favourite layout of the day because I love the colours, they are so pretty. I don't normally do heritage style pages but I thought this layout showcased the photo's nicely (even if I do say so myself!).

Yesterday we went to Truro. Just for something to do really all we ended up buying was a new book for the kids to have read to them at bedtime. I was really pleased with the book, I haven't seen this range before but they are tear resistant, splash resistant and great rhyming stories. Ben and Charlotte loved it too. We did go and have a Burger King as well which the kids liked, I had the scrummy sweet chilli chicken burger, mmmmmm.

Yesterday morning I turned on the hot tap in the kitchen and when I turned it off the water just kept coming out, scorching hot and wouldn't stop. Therefore, we had to isolate the hot water tank and we had no hot water all day. The plumber is here now trying to fix the problem for me. I think we may need a new faucet. On top of that my washing machine is spinning and the moment and it sounds like a rocket is about to take off by the back door; we have to invest in a new one in the next couple of months.

I intend to do another couple of layouts for the album today.

Something for the weekend

Well, I am finally feeling better :o) Not 100% but a lot better!

I received a provocraft rolling stamp in the post today (Circa 18pt) and I am really pleased with it.
I have set up my dining room to do some serious scrapping over the weekend as I have a 40th wedding anniversary 8 x8 album to complete in two weeks!!!! It looks like I am about to embark on a UK Scrappers cyber crop in here at the moment.

I am hoping that I will get a few pages done tomorrow as my hubby is off out all day to do some plastering. I am hoping the kids will be happy with a trip across the road to the park in the morning and the opportunity to watch some dvd's in Mummy's lounge in the afternoon (they have their own playroom but being close to me when I am scrapping may make them happier!). We will have to see how it goes.

I am gutted. I tried to order the Xyron Design Runner from QVC yesterday but by the time I 'Ummed' and 'Ammed' about it, it was out of stock so I missed out! Never mind, I ordered a nice box with albums instead; It wasn't on the show but a previous TSV that I didn't get but wished I had that I searched the website for and ordered. I am really looking forward to getting that. Sometimes, I find making cards a bit tedious as I really love to scrapbook mainly. The kit should make it a bit easier.

Just a random pic of my favourite lady today as there is nothing much to report!

Poorly...

I haven't blogged for a whole week! What's that about?

Well, I have been quite poorly since Friday. I felt a bit better yesterday but I have woken up today feeling rotton again.

I will do an update soon, I promise :)

Playing Around...

We haven't really done much this week. How boring!

The kids have been going to playgroup and I have been mooching around the house, phoning my Mum, just the usual stuff.

I had a little play around with the kids and the camera yesterday and then messed around in photoshop.

Today, both the kids went to playgroup this morning and I went to my usual
handicraft session at the WI (I know! but I love it) and the leading lady there - Fayser (god knows how you spell her name!) was teaching me
Temari! I had great fun.

This afternoon I set up the kids paddling pool and they played in it for about 5 minutes before wanting to come back indoors!

I am now scanning photo's to send to photobox to make a 40th wedding anniversary album for my inlaws :o)

That's about it!

Happy Days

We have had a very nice weekend in my house. We live across the road from a big park / playground and yesterday they had a fun day. At first I thought it looked a bit bare over there but we decided to take a walk over with the kids anyway. Well, it was a bit bare but they had two bouncy castles which you couldn't see from our window. The kids loved it! They had cake and hubby and I had hot dogs - yummy! Mark came back home to watch the football and I stayed a while with the kids. It took a lot of persuasion to get them to get off the bouncy castles and come back home.

Ben's junior golf clubs arrived yesterday so my little four year old went to the driving range with Daddy today. Bless him, apparently he did quite well so Tiger Woods had better watch out!

I stayed in with Charlotte and started to do a bit of scrapping when she would let me. After lunch both Ben and Charlotte played in the garden in the paddling pool and I carried on with my layout :o) I have now finished it and here it is.

So, all in all a very happy, scrappy day.

Scrapped!

I did! For the first time this month I actually cut n stuck some paper. I made a layout of Charlotte on the beach. The photo's were taken on our first holiday with the children on a particularly horrible day on the beach! It was a lovely sunny day but the beach was far too hot and the sand was far too gritty for children aged just over one and just over two. We stayed on the beach for all of about 30 minutes before packing up and going to the safety of a swimming pool instead! Having said that I got some lovely snaps of Charlotte on the beach which enabled me to do this layout so it wasn't a wasted day after all.

I have just found out about a crop that is going on in Cornwall next Saturday so I will be going along to that and I am really looking forward to it. I usually go to a crop in Exeter (which I love and will still be going to when I can get there) but I haven't been able to go for a few months so I can't wait till Saturday now :o)

I am off now as I want to watch the Big Brother eviction! Sad, I know, but I have to admit that I am a fan. I first watched BB2 and I think they have gone downhill since then but I always watch it in the hope that it will be better this year!!

Will It Last?

The weather I mean. I really hope it does last as I am having a lovely time in the sun :)

I have been out in the garden nearly every day this week topping up my tan! Only an hour or so but still it is great. I look and feel so healthy and it is all to do with the sun.

I got up at about 9.30 this morning which was lovely (hubby let me have lay in) and then a did a manic clean through the house. Ben was as good as gold whilst I was doing this but Charlotte just wanted to join in all the time and getting in my way. Eventually she went off to play with her kitchen and food and I managed to get on.

So this afternoon I have been lazing around in the garden. I did come in for a little while and Charlotte was doing a spinning dance in the kitchen so I took a couple of snaps. They came out really well! I played about with one of them to get rid of the kitchen background.

After the kids had their tea I sorted out my wardrobe and made it all look nice and tidy. I took out all the old rubbish clothes and made sure everything was hung properly on the hangers. I keep going to open the wardrobe door now as it looks so pretty in there!

Last night I sorted out papers, cardstock and embellishments for a new layout so I really want to have a go at that so I determined that I will do some tomorrow evening as hubby is out with his mates.
I really do have to do some scrapping as I need to complete a 40th Wedding Anniversary album by the middle of July and I have only done 3 layouts so far. I am beginning to panic about it a bit. The photo's I have managed to get hold of to scrap are not very good though and I am finding it really difficult to get inspiration to do the pages!

School Reunion

I had a great time at the weekend :) I went to stay with my Mum in Plymouth on Friday night and spent some time at my sister's house in the evening, it was great to see everyone! I even got to see my Nephew (who's 18) who I haven't seen for ages.

On Saturday we had a really girly day in town (Mum, sister Carol and me). It was hilarious. I was showing Mum and Carol the Benefit make-up counter and I ended up having most of the make-up put on my face by the sales woman. I was really pleased with the results and spent the rest of the afternoon being really vain and looking in the mirror everywhere we went!

When we got home I had to get ready for my 20 year school reunion. A friend I hadn't seen since school came to my house with a bottle of champagne and we had a few glasses of that before braving the reunion. It was GREAT! I had a fantastic time catching up with old school friends and even a couple of teachers. I was particulary happy talking to Mrs Blackmore and Mrs Farmer who on the last day of school convinced me to go to sixth form for which I am eternally grateful :) The organisers had managed to get hold of loads of old school photo's and they were all enlarged and stuck around the walls. By the end of the night and after a few drinks we were all ripping them down to take home. There was one I loved but as it is a photocopy it is really blurry. If anyone owns this picture can I have a good scanned copy of it? I love it. I also pinched a picture of the front of our school as it has now been knocked down.

Sunday was my birthday and my hubby came up to Plymouth with the children. Mum looked after Ben and Charlotte whilst we went for a meal and to watch the Da Vinci Code. All in all I had a great time although I did fall asleep during the film! That was more to do with a heavy night on Saturday than the film being rubbish although I think the film could have been a lot better having read the book.

I really want to do some scrapping soon but I think I want to watch Memoirs of a Geisha tonight if my husband remembers to buy it on the way home. I have read the book twice and it is brilliant I hope the film is just as good.

The Sun Is Out!

Well, the kids are in the garden playing and I have got my bikini on so it must be summer!

I am going to go in the garden and read my book (or try to) in a minute to grab a little tan before my school reunion tomorrow. I came back from Alicante 3 weeks ago and any colour I had then has now disappeared! In fact, I was still brown yesterday but it just started peeling off in sheets. Typical! I only needed it to last until tomorrow.

Ben has just come in to say Charlotte has taken a towel off the washing line and is dragging it around the garden. The joys of parenthood.

I am travelling up to Plymouth tonight to stay with my Mum so I have been packing this morning, I usually forget something but I have got my dress and shoes for tomorrow in the bag and that's the main thing.

I have had a nightmare with the internet this morning, the wireless connection is rubbish. I fiddles around with the antenna at the back though and it seems to be ok now. I have stopped swearing at the computer anyway and after 3 hours of trying my emails have finally downloaded.

Right, I am off to bronze (or burn!) now and sort out my grass covered towel.
